Halloween. It’s a tradition that goes back to old pagan harvest festivals and has always been known as a time when the veil between worlds is just a bit thinner. As the festival was picked up by Christianity, it became associated with monsters and ghosts: All Hallows Eve being filled with rituals, such as the jack-o-lantern, aimed at protecting our homes and families from the terrors of the night. As old a celebration as Halloween is, there are a myriad of interpretations to the traditions of the night but the one I’ve always liked best is the idea that the reason we dress in costume for the holiday is to embody, embrace, and conquer our own fears. …read more
